Our Spirituality.

As a staff at YouthWorks, we are first and foremost a community of disciples on mission here in the city.

The following values and the statements that accompany them define the unique charism the Spirit has given us, and act as the foundation for all we do.

Grace.

We are rooted in the Father.

I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing... As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love.

John 15:5, 9-10

We are worth more than our ministry.

This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

1 John 4:10

Unity.

We respect the inherent dignity of all people.

So God created mankind in His own image, in his image he created them.

Genesis 1:27

We proclaim Christ’s Kingdom through uniting diverse peoples.

My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in Me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as You are in Me and I am in You. May they also be in Us so that the world may believe that you have sent Me.”

John 17: 20-29-10

Humility.

We serve our community’s vision.

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

Philippians 2:3-4

Service.

We give all of ourselves.

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!

Philippians 2:5-8

We boldly minister from the authority Christ entrusts to us.

I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms.

Ephesians 8:19-20
