Serving Christ. Seeing Christ.
In an effort to connect our staff and youth to service opportunities and communities around the city of Detroit, Mercy Team was born. Our staff commits weekly to volunteering listening ears, helping hands, and prayers for those who need it most. In our efforts to serve, we find ourselves benefitting from the wisdom and companionship of those we meet. Keep reading to see which non-profits and organizations we partner with regularly!
YouthWorks-Detroit and many past staff and volunteers were blessed to have known Sister Judie before she passed away in the Winter of 2018. Her legacy of love and generosity lives on through this non-profit which seeks to feed the homeless and underprivileged people living in the Eastern Market area. Every Wednesday, we help pack 150+ lunches and then distribute them throughout the neighborhood.
Every Friday, our staff attends the 12-step substance abuse meetings hosted by Br. Ed Conlin and the Meldrum Capuchin Soup Kitchen. This is an extremely powerful and convicting sharing group and many would consider this to be the 'spiritual feeding' of the week. In listening to the stories of those who struggle and are healing from substance abuse addictions, we realize that we are all addicted to something and can share in that struggle for holiness. Great friendships have been born out of these meetings.
